A newly restored Sprint Speciale joins a growing collection of Italian beauties in Richard’s garage

Once painted and ready for reassembly, the SS was trailered from Oregon to California. It’s shown arriving in Richard’s hilly neighborhood on the edge of Silicon Valley, on a frame strapped to a car hauler.

Inching the SS off the trailer was a nerve-wracking experience.

The SS and its perfect Bluette paint had to be maneuvered up a steep, winding drive to reach Richard’s garage.

With the car safely in his garage, Richard began to reassemble it.

The Sprint Speciale’s stripped out interior was rewired and reassembled. Richard, an electrical engineer, is good at wiring, and at adding relays in places Alfa should have put them. Could be why he has a nickname among some of us, right “Relay?”

Richard designed and built his own engine stand to test the SS motor before it went into the car.

The rebuilt motor is shown poised above the expensive paint job. It makes my palms sweat just to look at this.

Richard says attaching all the new hoses was quite the challenge, but we can see that it all came out looking great.

Richard at the wheel, making vroom, vroom noises and trying to decide if he’ll trust his perfectly restored SS to the crazies who drive the mountain roads and freeways in his part of northern California.

Did anyone notice we’re drooling over a car that is ORIGINALE? We like perfect restorations as well as the next guy.

On the left is the ’67 GTV that was Richard’s first restoration. It has a high performance 2-litre engine, among other mods.

Next came this Giulia Super, which he both painted himself and did all the mechanical work.
