Here are some photos of what we use for kokanee fishing in Washington State. We catch trout on the same gear. For fishing from the shore, I’d trying putting a modest weight (maybe a couple of split shot) above a wedding ring lure that has shoepeg corn on the hooks. The corn is hooked as shown in one of the photos below. I also use Sockeye Slayer on the corn. Pautzke’s yellow Fire Corn worked great last Thursday and it’s a lot easier to use than buying a can of white shoepeg corn, soaking it all night in tuna oil and trying to put it on a hook without getting yourself all greasy and stinky. The wedding ring lure is shown below in the yellow Mack’s package. These are fished with and without trolling rigs, so tossing one from the shore might get results. Orange works best here. Pink and purple combos also work. Don’t know if they are best for all lakes. The large orange blade with the snake emblem is a dodger used for trolling. This one came from Deadly Venom.
